Thanks Linda,
I believe I have found my Clay ancestors. They were in Wilkes County,
GA by 1789, when Jesse Clay (a Revolutionary War soldier) and Royal Clay
Sr. were part of the county Militia. Jesse was born in Virginia in 1744
and died in Jasper County, GA in 1824. Royal Clay Jr. then is found in
DeKalb County, GA 1830>Paulding Co. GA 1840>Itawamba County, MS 1850. I do
not know if Roy Clay Sr. was a brother or son of Jesse Clay, but I strongly
suspect he was a son. If anyone has information on Clay marriages in
Wilkes, Old Randolph (Jasper), DeKalb, and Paulding counties prior to 1840,
please let me know. Roy Clay Sr. was an administrator or a witness to the
will of Samuel Pascal in Jasper County about 1812/13. Was Royal a
son-in-law of Pascal? Who was Samuel Pascal? I've uncovered so much
material from the net in the past 24 hours that it has absolutely amazed
me! I am greatly excited and really need your help!
Thank You
Will Smith
