Anne, In order to obtain anything from the Family History Library in SLC
you must to go to your local Family History Center. I don't know where you
are but the individual centers are usually listed in the phone directory
yellow pages under LDS Church or Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day
Saints. The Center number will appear in that listing either under the
title Genealogy or Family History. The films and records available are to
be used only at the Family History Centers and are loaned from Salt Lake
for a period of about one month at a small cost that covers postage and
handling. You cannot get the mailed to your home but you can have a search
done in Salt Lake by their volunteer staff. A "Batch" number is the code
for a collection of records submitted by members either from their own
knowledge or from records they have read and copied. The code numbers of
the batches can be read by the volunteers at any FHCenter and they can tell
you from that code when the record was processed, if it is an extract from
another record or if it has been submitted as a personal record. Such
records can be valuable or just a waste of time. They will also tell you
the name of the copiest or the submitter and their address, including the
submission date. There is a list of many addresses of Family History
Centers on the internet. Try a search for "Familyhistorycenter". If you
want to tell me where you live I will try to get that location for you.
Agnes. The 800 number for SLC is available through anylocal Family History
Center.
