In regard to these Huffman's, you are all right there is very little
documentation that is available on this line. I noticed that there was a
bible purchased at the estate auction 1823 by Solomon Dietz Jr. I have been
unable to find this bible but believe that if it still exists it will be in
the Catawba Co. area with a decandant of that family. I do know the
following items.
1. Martin and family do appear in the 1776 census in MD.
2. DAR research shows Martin next in Culpeper Co. VA and on a list of
eligible men
for the revolution. I am told they lived in an area that is now
Rappahonack Co.
Martin was paying taxes. Daughter Mary (Polly) ( Ashe)was born there
in 1779.
Henry Huffman was also born in VA. 1781 Listed in DAR research and
born out by
numerous census reports.
3. 1796 Martin buys property in Lincoln County from a man that is from
Culpeper Co.
VA. according to the document. The family is now in Lincoln County
and appear on the census reports there.
4. 1809 Henry is given property from Martin in Lincoln Co.
5. 1812 Henry deeds property to John Miller.
Recieves property from John Miller
Receives property from his brother Joseph.
6. Martin Huffman and his wife die in 1822
1823 Henry recieves property from Martin Huffman' s Estate
7. August 31, 1824 Henry sells 190 Acres of land to John Miller.
8. November 11, 1824 Henry Huffman obtains 80 acres of land in Parke County,
IN
9. 1824 to 1848 Henry and wife Elizabeth buy and sell several properties in
Parke Co.
IN. Several of these transactions are with their oldest sons and
daughters families.
10. 1850 Henry is in Parke Co In with son George
11. 1860 Henry Huffman is in Cumberland Co. ILwith son George and family.
12. 1870 Henry Huffman can no longer be found with son George or any other
family
member at that time.

I am still collecting facts and learning new things about this family. I
have not yet personally gone to the NC area for verification. I have noted
that Henry Huffman was in volved in land transactions in Lincoln Co. with
his brother George and John Linebarger in about 1805. This transaction was
witnessed by Andrew Killian. I am still trying to find documentation that
will prove that Henry's wife Elizabeth Hoots was the daughter of Youley and
Michael Hoots. John Linebarger married Anna Maria Hoots and moved to Parke
County IN at about the same time Henry Huffman and his wife Elizabeth did.
Henry Huffman and John Linebarger lived on adjoining properties in that
county. I also believe that Andrew Killan married the widow Youley Hoots
and they had a daughter Youley Killian (b abt. 1791) that married John
Duncan 1 Oct 1807. I would appreciate any information that would support my
conclusions.
