This is another family history from The Catawba Co. Heritage Book.
No. 352 p. 237.

Located in Catawba County in North Carolina there is a large branch of a
family known as Hunsucker. In Germany the name is sometimes spelled
*Huntsecker* but generally Hunzinger.* The family name appeared for the
first time in the records of the American Immigrants. There is a book
entitled *Rupp's Collection of 30,000 names of Immigrants to America*, ed. by
I. G. Kohler, 202 N. F. St., Philadelphia, Penn. This gives us the record to
1800. *Johannes Huntzecker landed Sept. 15, 1748 on the ship *Two Brothers*,
Martin Hunsicker landed Sept. 11, 1731 on ship *Penn Merchant*, Thomas &
Daniel Hunsicker landed Oct. 1, 1754. Abraham and Peter Huntzicker landed
Oct. 28, 1738. Johannes & Simon Hunsecker landed Oct. 24, 1734. Jacob
Huntzecker landed Sept. 28, 1733.*
It is evident that this Johannes Hunzinger who landed in 1748 is the father
of Johann Theobold, who cam to NC in 1733. Johann Theobold settled in what
is now known as Catawba County on the waters of Lyles Creek, remaining there
until his death in the year of 1822. The wife of Johann Theobold was Susanna
Magdalena. They were blessed with fifteen children: Wilhelm b. Sept 10,
1771; Mary (-m- John Grunt); Joseph (-m- Polly Yunt); Mollie (-m- Adam
Grunt); Jacob (-m- Eliza Killian); Catherine (-m- Peter Little); Sarah (-m-
Rader); Christian (-m- Catherine Whittenburg); John (-m- Smith); Susannah
(-m- William Drum); Elizabeth (-m- Fred Bollinger); Peggy (-m- Joe
Isenhauer); Eva (-m- Jacob Little); Barbara (-m- John Moser); and Theobold
who died at the age eighteen.
Christian, the eight child of Theobold and Susanna, married Catherine
Whittenberg and their children were: Elizabeth (-m- William Herman); Sarah
(-m- George Huffman); Catherine (-m- William Turner); Emma (-m- Cain
Leonard); Anne (-m- Daniel Miller); Paul (-m- Sallie Smyre); Jonas (-m-
Sarah C. Clonninger); Melinda and Jacob.
Jonas, the seventh child of Christian and Catherine Whitenberg, was a soldier
in the Civil War and died at Point Lookout, Aug. 20, 1864. Jonas married
Sarah C. Cloninger and at the time of his death the children were very young.
Their children were: Alice Manerva b. Nov. 20, 1860 (-m- Walter J. Yount)
and Thomas L. b. Aug. 20, 1862 (-m- Amanda F. Carpenter b. May 31, 1867).
Thomas L. and Amanda F. Carpenter Hunsucker had the following children:
Claudia Ella b. Apr. 8, 1885 (-m- John S. Simmons); Evans Cleveland b. Oct.
6, 1887; Bertie Alice b. Nov. 14, 1892 (-m- Aubra Rockett); Maude Essie b.
Aug 25, 1895 (-m- Marvin Propst); Elsie Lee b. Jan 15, 1898 (-m- Chester
Lowe); Eula Vergia B. Mar. 29, 1901 (-m- Olin Rockett); Ernest Durant b.
Sept. 28, 1903: Catrina May b. Dec. 1, 1905 (-m- Paul Sigmon); and Aubern
Carpenter b. Feb 9, 1909.
Aubern C. Hunsucker, the youngest child of Thomas and Amanda Carpenter
Hunsucker, married July 12, 1938 Mary Virginia Anthony b. May 27, 1914. They
have one daughter, Mary Virginia born April 22, 1943. She married Robert
Talley Roakes on June 28, 1964. Robert was born Dec. 16, 1940. They have the
following children: Amy Elizabeth born Nov. 26, 1968 and Robert Talley
Roakes, Jr. born June 15, 1971.
