You might find it if you can find a 1920

On your atlas, look East of Lincolnton, NC and find the intersection of Hwy
73 and Hwy 16 in Lincoln County. From that intersection, follow Hwy 16
about 3-miles South to the center of Lowesville (which might not be on your
map). Mariposa is located due West about 4-miles from that point, still in
Lincoln County, but near the Gaston County line. But, from Lowesville, you
would have to follow a secondary country road designated RR-2 through
Cottage Home community, at the West edge of Lowesville at Killian's Creek,
then continue on RR-2 to Mariposa Road, then left for about 1-1/2 miles.

"Topozone.com" shows only about 10-houses along the road at Mariposa at a
loop in Leeper's Creek. It's apparently now just a place in the countryside
along a rural road, as Pat indicated. However, just across Leeper's Creek
from Mariposa, there appears to be a large building standing alone by the
creek which is likely the old cotton mill that Pat described.

Hope this is helpful.
