To TRISH and any other interested Historians:

First let me tell you how to find MAGNOLIA GROVE. Going south on NC
highway 27 through Iron Station you will see the straight road and ahead
there is a slight curve to the right. At that point there is a road to the
right that should be marked MAGNOLIA GROVE ROAD. I know it is marked on the
other end. Guessing it is about 2 miles to Magnolia Grove. When you get to
the stop sign you will find the driveway right beside of you on the right.
I can not give you permission to go on the property since I do not own it.
When Cap Love owned it and was alive he gave me persission to visit and walk
around the property at my convenience. I played on the property and also
hunted as I grew up in the area.
This home is built very near the location of DELLINGERS TAVERN which is
mentioned in the early history of OLD LINCOLN COUNTY. The tavern was
visited by the british before they went to Lincolnton to Ramsours Mill and
the battle there.

Someone also asked where Ingleside and Veseuvius Furnace is located. This
is the best I can do.
First: Ingleside is located next to the only overhead bridge on NC HWY
between NC hwy 16 near the dam for LAKE NORMAN as you travel toward
Lincolnton. Get off HWY 73 and as you cross over the highway you will be
facing Ingleside on the right side of the road you are traveling on.
Now if you want to find Veseuvius Furnace get back on HWY 73 and continue
west toward Lincolnton until you come to a cross roads you will see Tuckers
Campground on the right. This is a meeting place each year for African
Americans. To go to Veseuvious turn right and go north about 2 miles, just
guessing, I did not measure the distance. As you travel you will see a two
story farm house on the right and out back there is the Morrison ROUND BARN.
Then you will find the sign for Veseuvious Furnace on the road to the Right.
The house can be seen on the right sight of the road. The furance was nown
stream in front of the house.
Going back to Tuckers Campground and the cross roads, to the south you can
see Macpelah Presbyterian Church. This is located on the side of THE OLD
PLANK ROAD. This too is ancient.
If you go east on the Plank road about 200 yards you will see a clump of
bushes on the north side of the road. There is a large fieldstone with a
bronze plack with information about Jacob Forney. The graveyard had been
destroyed and farmed over. I believe this is the general location of the
School House Church that was referred to so freequently concerning Jacob
Rhyne and Adam Cloninger.

If I have omitted answers to anyone's questions, please ask again. I hope
this covers all the requests for information.

Hope you have enjoyed this little visit. Next time I go I will promise to
ake my digital and then I can post and send you pictures of the homes.
