Subject: [CATAWBA-WEST] MELCHOIR HEFNER --*ATTENTION LORENA EAKER !
Date: Wed, 19 Feb 2003 11:31:03 EST
Lorena,
I have been searching for proof that the Georg Hefner, who lived and died in
NC, just may be my Hefner ancestor He lived in the area that later became
Catawba.
A few people say that this Georg Hefner might have been the brother of
MELCHOIR HEFNER. (no proof)
Melchoir Hefner was said to have arrived in America in 1734 aboard the ship
Saint Andrew.
The only surname I found one the ship list was even close was a Melchoir
Hubner and his family. I have found that this Melchoir Hubner lived and died
in Frederick Co., MD.
His son Melchoir Hubner was born 1723 in Silesia, Germany, married, November
2, 1752 and died May 01 1807, buried Deep Run Mennonite Cemetery, BucksCo,
PA. He lived in Bedminster Twp, Bucks Co., This son would be the one claimed
to be the Melchoir Hefner of NC.
Now I am concerned that the Melchoir Hefner of NC has been confused with the
Melchoir Hubner who arrived in America aboard the ship Saint Andrew!
