About the Garrett line, have you ever come across a Joseph Martin Garrett, possibly of Tennessee or South Carolina? He was born about 1825 and died before 1880 in California. His wife was Martha Mahurin of TX who died in Santa Maria, CA (about 1 1/2 hours north of Ventura, CA) in 1909. Thanks for any help you can give.
