The Southern California Genealogical Society and Family Research Library in
Burbank has obtained a one-month trial for three very special online
databases through ProQuest. Come visit the Library before August 28, 2004,
to take advantage of this very special opportunity to find the missing
pieces to your family's puzzle.
-- HeritageQuest Online
-- Digital Sanborn Maps, 1867-1970, California
-- ProQuest Historical Newspapers - Historical Los Angeles Times (1888 -
1960's)

The Library has been granted access to the outstanding website of the New
England Historic Genealogical Society. This is a great resource to help
locate your New England ancestors. The NEHGS website (www.nehgs.org) is
rich with content and contains millions of records about our New England
forebearers. Check it out next time you're in the Library! And thank you
to the NEHGS for making this available to our members.

The monthly educational program will be Saturday, August 14 at 1pm. Jan
Jennings will talk about genealogical research in New York. Sometimes
called the Black Hole of genealogy, the state of New York poses special
challenges to the genealogist and family history researcher. Many of our
ancestors' births, marriages, and deaths occurred in New York in the days
before the villages and towns began recording these events. Jan has worked
as a professional researcher dealing with New York from its Nieuw Amsterdam
days on, so she will have lots of ideas to help you track down those elusive
famly members. The monthly educational meeting is open to the public.

-- The Master Genealogist User Group - Saturday, August 7, 1:30pm
