Ray, I noted your interest in John W. Dinwiddie. He is buried in Knights
Landing, Yolo County, Ca. They are located on page 75, plot 61 of the cemetery
records with #1 - Elizabeth Kirkpatrick Dinwiddie, died May 11, 1900, #2
- John W. Dinwiddie, died September 20, 1889. #3 Dr. James E. Morse born
April 22, 1829, died May 23, 1867? (marker has been broken and repaired
but last number is questionable),(related through marriage), # 4 - empty,
#5 - A.S. Dinwiddie. The known family members tombstones are simple, flat,
cement ones. My mother had the priviledge of looking at the original records
many years ago, but these are not available to the public now. She also
searched the Woodland California, County Courthouse. The clerk's office
had found reference to 1890 - Letter of Administration John W. Dinwiddie,
E-183, new series 410 (but she didn't go to the records or get copies at
that time). Book - Registries of Deaths, Yolo County, California (Rm. 105),
Elizabeth Kirkpatrick died May 11, 1900 as 96 years, one month; born in
Tennessee, was a widow, was a housewife, died of old age, pg. 49 and 50.
John Dinwiddie, died September 20, 1889, male, married, born in Kentucky,
died of old age, pgs. 45 and 46. 78 years old when died. My mother hand
copied the information and recorded it in family records. I have records
of children, birth dates, most death dates, spouses, and some additional
information, about 12 pages of info. on family. There is also interesting
info on Columbus Barton Dinwiddie and how he used Prairie Schooners to
haul supplies across the Sierra Nevada Mountains in the early 1850's.
