Andrew Wieman

A celebration of the life of Andrew Wieman is scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday at the First Assembly of God Church, 1600 Hoover St., Eureka.

A local memorial is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 18, in room 194 of the chemistry building on the UC Davis campus. It is being conducted by Wieman's fraternity, Kappa Sigma.

Wieman, 20, died from stab wounds last week in his room at the Kappa Sigma fraternity at UC Davis. His body was found Jan. 4, with stab wounds to the neck and chest. Authorities have not yet determined whether the death was a suicide or homicide. The Yolo County Coroner's office has listed the death as "suspicious."

Wieman was the son of the late Jan Vernon and Wes Wieman, a dentist who moved to Eureka with his family in 1984.

Weiman was a 1998 graduate of Eureka High School, where he participated in the weightlifting club, the Limited Edition Choral Group and played varsity soccer. He was majoring in economics at UC Davis.

He is survived by his brothers, Daniel of Eureka and Scott of San Pedro; grandparents, Jim and Jean Vernon of Tujunga, Los Angeles County and Marabell Wieman of Tacoma, Wash.
