Fiorella I. Gielow

Fiorella I. Gielow died Nov. 27, 2000, at Sutter General Hospital in Sacramento. Born May 25, 1928, in Montalto DiCastro, Italy, she was 72.

A 39-year resident of Davis, she worked for 30 years as staff research associate in the radio biology department at UC Davis. She was a member of St. James Catholic Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leon Gielow, in 1984. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Ornella Thompson of Georgia.

She is survived by her son, Bill Gielow of Soquel, her daughter, Marisa Gielow of Woodland, her three brothers, Italo, Augusto and Tonio Passalacqua, all of Italy, her twin sister, Marisa Cottle of Davis, her grandson, Ryan Gielow of Pleasanton, her three nephews, Wendell, Glenn and Terence Cottle, as well as their wives and children.

Friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Friday at St. James Catholic Church, 14th and B streets. Interment will be at Davis Cemetery, 820 Pole Line Road. Donations may be made in her memory to Sutter General Hospital, Oncology Department, 2800 L St., Sacramento, CA 95814.
