James D. Arterbury

James D. Arterbury died in Woodland Memorial Hospital Sunday, July 7, 2002, at age 79.

Born Nov. 18, 1922, in Hope, Ark., Mr. Arterbury has been a Yolo County resident for 60 years. He was the son of Joseph and Alice Arterbury. He had been a truck driver for most of his adult life, and retired from Adams Trucking in 1986. According to his family members, "he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and was active in the Woodland Bowling league." He was a member of the Woodland Eagles Lodge.

Mr. Arterbury is survived by his daughters, Lenna Slater and husband Bob, and Sheryl Eisenhart, all of Woodland; sisters, Ida McBrayer of Corning, and Josephine Keaton of Medford, Ore.; grandchildren, Tim Slater and wife Monika of Susanville, Stephen Slater and Jason Eisenhart, both of Woodland; and great-grandchildren, Samantha and Kelli Slater of Susanville, and Brandon Slater of Woodland.

A graveside service is scheduled at 9 a.m. Friday, July 12, at Monument Hill Memorial Park, Woodland.

The family requests memorials be directed to the charity of the donor's choice.

McNary's Chapel of Woodland is assisting the family with arrangements.
