Gertrude Alexander

Gertrude Alexander died April 6, 2000. Born May 4, 1924, in Port Orchard, Wash., to Cecil Irwin Beal and Alice Smith Beal, she was 75.

She was a retired food service manager with the Mount Diablo Unified School District.

She was a member of the Rebekah Lodge in Davis, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary and Woodland Christian Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter H. Prater, who died in 1980; and her brother, Al Bard.

She is survived by her husband of five years, Edwin Alexander; son, Walter H. Prater Jr.; three daughters, Karen Johnson of Davis, Phyllis O'Farrell of Paradise and Linda Meyers of Davis; seven grandchildren, Brandon Johnson of Davis, Tonya Meyers of Davis, Shane O'Farrell of Sacramento, Denise O'Farrell of Sacramento and Ray, Richard and Robert Prater, all of Tulsa, Okla.; four brothers, Robert Beal of Port Orchard, Wash., Tom Beal of Vancouver, Wash., Bunny Mode of Junction City, Ore., and Ralph Beal of Roseburg, Ore.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral Monday at 10 a.m. at the Davis Funeral Chapel, 116 D St. The Rev. Larry Love will officiate. Burial will follow at Sunset Lawn Memorial Park in Sacramento.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to Yolo Hospice, P.O. Box 1014, Davis, CA 95617.
