Looking for information about, or descendants of Charles ( L.?) Owen, born between 1873 and 1879 in Wapello County, Iowa near the town of Ormanville. He was the son of Leonard and Ella McClain (sp?) Owen. His mother died shortly after his birth. He and his uncle, Elijah Owen, and later, his father, homesteaded in Custer County, Nebraska near the town of Sargent. A family photo shows Charles and his wife (possibly named Alice) with 6 children, 2 boys and 4 girls. School records in Custer County show 4 of the children's names: Herbert, Aaron, Elva, Nellie. Later, according to family stories, Charles and his family moved to California. The only clue I have is a funeral card for Alice M. Owen showing her death on 12/20/1975 in Woodland, California, services at McNary's Chapel and interment at Woodland Cemetery. It also states that she was a native of Kansas. At this point, I'm not sure if Charles and Alice are connected. If Alice is not Charles' wife, I don't know ho!
w she fits in the family. I am related to Charles' half-brother, Jay Owen. I would really appreciate any help with these "lost" members of my family.
