Millard Raymond "Red" Gibson
Millard Raymond "Red" Gibson died peacefully at his home in Brooks Thursday, Feb. 27, 2003, at the age of 79.
Born Feb. 7, 1924 in Latham, Kansas to James and Rose Gibson, He resided in Yolo County for the last 66 years. Attended Esparto High School, was a World War II Navy Veteran, 5th Special Naval Construction Battalion. After returning from the Navy, Red worked for Bud Gordon 10 years and 27 years for Syar Industries, Inc. Red enjoyed the Annual 5th Special Reunions, bus trips to Reno, fishing, cutting wood, and spending time for his family and friends during his retirement years. Red was a member of the Esparto VFW.
Survivors include son James E. Gibson and companion Cathy Roath, and daughters, Joyce Griffith and husband Gene, and Janis Anguay and husband Tom; five grandchildren, Clinton, Brenda, Debora, Phillip and Karen; and 12 great-grandchildren. Companion, Marlene Covington; brothers, Byron and Jerry Gibson; and sister, Lorene Robinson.
Preceded in death by his wife of 49 years Phyllis J. Gibson; brothers, George, James and Jack Gibson.
The family requests memorials be directed to Capay Valley Fire Department; or Esparto VFW.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 4, 2003, at the Capay Cemetery, the family invites everyone to the VFW Hall in Esparto following services.
McNary's Chapel of Woodland is assisting the family with arrangements.
