Wayne Barrios Sr.
Wayne Barrios Sr. passed away peacefully at his home in Yolo, Ca. on Thursday, May 22, 2003, surrounded by his family and loved ones. He was born in Woodland, on June 4, 1942 to Tom and Connie (Espigares) Barrios, both of whom predecease him.
Wayne had been operating Barrios Farms, Inc. since his father's death, as a second-generation farmer. He enjoyed being around people whether it is family or friends. He will be remembered as a good-hearted person who had a love for cars and animals. Wayne lived everyday to the fullest, hardly ever getting out of the "fast lane." Many Woodlanders remember Wayne as "bringing the Christmas Spirit" to town each year with his marvelous and grandiose Christmas displays at his home on Monte Vista Drive, which was often the "talk of the town for weeks."
His sons, Wayne T. Barrios Jr. and wife Amy of Woodland, and Bryan Barrios and wife Julie of Sacramento, and his daughter Wendy Barrios of Central Pointe, Ore., survive Mr. Barrios. Grandchildren include Tom and Brigget Barrios of Sacramento, and Amanda and Kaylen Cox of Central Pointe, Ore. Also surviving are many aunts, uncles and cousins who were a big part of Wayne's life, and his 'shotgun' riding 'best friend' - "Teddy."
A graveside funeral service is scheduled for 12:30 p.m., Thursday, May 29, 2003, at Mary's Cemetery, County Road 98 & 15, Woodland. Fr. John Boll of Holy Rosary Catholic Church will be officiating. No visitation is scheduled prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Mr. Barrios name be made to the Yolo County SPCA, P.O. Box 510, Davis, Ca., 95617; or Yolo Hospice, P.O. Box 1014, Davis, Ca. 95617.
