Samuel Martin Hobbs

Samuel Martin Hobbs died in Woodland on Saturday, Aug. 30, 2003, at age 95.

Born July 12, 1908, in Lenoir City, Tenn., Mr. Hobbs had been a Yolo County resident for nine years. He worked about 50 years in the fuel oil business in Charlotte, N.C. where he and his wife lived prior to moving to California to be close to family. He was a member of Hickory Grove United Methodist Church in Charlotte, N.C.

Survivors include his wife Louise Hobbs of Woodland; daughter, Judy Calvert and husband Bill; granddaughter, Dru Ross and husband Bob, also all of Woodland; grandson, Jason Calvert and wife Shannon of Eugene, Ore.; and six great-grandchildren.

Arrangements are under the direction of McNary's Chapel of Woodland.

Services: Visitation was held Sept. 2, at McNary's Chapel. A funeral service is scheduled at 11 a.m. today, Wednesday, at Calvary Baptist Church, Woodland. A burial will be at Monument Hill Memorial Park, Woodland.
