Vernon "Bud" Fortner

Vernon "Bud" Fortner died in his Woodland home Saturday, Oct. 4, 2003, at age 84.

Born Sept. 28, 1919, in Dexter, Mo., Mr. Fortner had been a Yolo County resident for 72 years. He retired from the Ford Garage after being with them as parts manager for 53 years, then he worked for McAfee Automotive for another seven years.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Adina Fortner; daughter, Lanette McAfee and husband Jack; grandsons, Jeff McAfee and wife Leslie of Sacramento and Brent McAfee and wife Shannan of Georgia; great-grandchildren, A.J., Cory, and Christopher; niece, Joyce Connley and husband Jimmy of Dixon; and nephews, Rodger Waggoner, E. Dan Milligan and wife Pat of Las Vegas, and Michael S. Milligan and wife Anita of Woodland; and numerous great-nieces and nephews.

The family requests memorials be directed to Yolo Hospice, P.O. Box 1014 Davis 95617; and Holy Rosary Building Fund, 503 California St., Woodland 95695; or to the charity of donor's choice. Arrangements are under the direction of McNary's Chapel of Woodland.

Services: A service was held for the family at St. Joseph's Cemetery Thursday, Oct. 9.
