Michael Schlentz, Former Chef at Palace Hotel, Ends Life Because of Continued Ill Health

WOODLAND (Yolo Co.), July 16 - Discouraged by continued ill health, Michael Schlentz, local restaurant proprietor, journeyed to San Francisco Thursday and drowned himself in the bay. His body has been recovered. It had not been in the morgue in San Francisco but a few minutes when word came from Schlentz' wife, warning the San Francisco Coroner to be on the watch for a suicide.

Mrs. Schlentz has gone to San Francisco to identify the remains. Papers on the body established Schlentz' identity to the satisfaction of the Coroner. Was Palace Hotel Chef. Schlentz had threatened to end his life for some time. He leaves a widow and two daughters residing in this city. At one time Schlentz possessed considerable wealth. He was well known in bay circles, having been head chef at the Palace Hotel in San Francisco for years.
