Gene F. Franscioni
Gene F. Franscioni died recently at the Mabel Northside Convalescent Hospital on Hollister. He was 89.
Born March 13, 1915, in Watsonville, he lived in Hollister for three years and had previously lived in Davis from 1953 to 1975.
He was the former manager and owner of Medlock Crop Dusters in Davis. He served in the U.S. Army Air Forces during World War II as a lieutenant colonel with the 101st Airborne as a pilot. He participated in the D-Day invasion of Europe, and while in the service he received the Purple Heart and the Distinguished Flying Cross.
Franscioni was an avid golfer and hunter.
He was preceded in death by his son, Steven Gene Franscioni.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Carol Franscioni of Hollister; daughter, Robin Meggait of Armstrong, British Columbia; sister, Denise Franklin of Tucson, Ariz.; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Monday from 1 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Struve and Laporte Chapel, 41 W. San Luis St. in Salinas.For directions, visit www.struveandlaporte.com.
A funeral will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the Struve and Laporte Chapel.
Memorials may be sent to the donor's favorite charity.
