Janet Martin Falvey

Janet Falvey passed away Saturday, Oct. 23 in her rural Woodland home at age 56 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born Feb. 27, 1948 in Riverside and was a Woodland resident for 53 years. Janet was a 1966 graduate of Woodland High School and then graduated from Sacramento City College with a degree as a registered nurse. She spent her entire 35 year nursing career at Woodland Memorial Hospital. Her dedication to her patients and fellow employees is legendary among her peers.

Survivors include her mother, June Martin of Magalia; father-in-law, Joseph Falvey of Woodland; her husband of 34 years, Howard Falvey of Woodland; her daughter Deanna Falvey of Orange County, her son, Will Falvey and his wife Lindsey of Woodland; her grandson, Joseph Willis Falvey of Woodland; her sister, Virginia Holcomb and her husband Jerry of Wisconsin; her brothers, Keith Martin and his wife Aleatha of Yuba City and Sam Martin and his wife Kathy of Robbins; her half brother, Kent Martin of Mt. Baldy and numerous nieces and nephews. Janet was preceded in death by her father, Ivan Martin and mother-in-law, Gloria Falvey.

A memorial service is scheduled for 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 29 at the First Baptist Church of Woodland, 1616 West St. A celebration of life will follow at the Woodland Surgery Center on the campus of Woodland Healthcare from 2 to 4 p.m. Private inurnment will be at Monument Hill Memorial Park.
