Eugene Wittman
Eugene Wittman went home to be with the Lord on Jan. 29, 2005. Born on Oct. 26, 1914 in Petersburg, Michigan, he was 91 years old.
Gene loved the outdoors. Many happy family times were spent sharing the joy he found in nature on hunting and fishing trips. He also enjoyed working with his hands and constructing things from wood. Most of his time was spent pursuing his love for business.
Raised in the automobile business, Gene continued the tradition, owning dealerships in Michigan and California. Hs last businesses were Wittman Motors, Wittman Ford, and Wittman Auto Center in Lake County, where he and his wife, Dorothy, lived from 1971 until they moved to Winters in 2004.
He lived his life guided by his deep faith and understanding of the Lord. His family will always cherish his legacy of loving kindness, politeness, generosity of spirit and demonstration of unwavering faith. Scripture says that the just shall live by faith, and without faith, we cannot please God. Gene must have really pleased God.
He will be forever missed by his caring wife of 66 years, Dorothy; children Nancy Frye and her husband, Jerry, Nick Wittman and his wife, Susan, and Nola Montgomery; grandchildren Laurie Brown, Lisa Tesch, Jerry Frye, Tammy Phillips, Brandy Wittman, Wade Wittman, Hope Wittman, Jessica Eisner, Chris, Erica, Jenna and Cheryl and 13 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his sons, Niels and Eugene.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Kelseyville Presbyterian Church, or that an act of kindness be performed in his honor.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Feb. 12, at 11 a.m. at Pioneer Presbyterian Church, 205 Russell Street, in Winters.
