John von Husen

John von Husen, a resident of Davis for the past 20 years, died on Feb. 26, 2005, at his home in Davis. Born June 1, 1953, in Greenbrae, he was 51 years old.

A celebration of his life will begin at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Tandem Properties building, 3500 Anderson Road in Davis.

He was raised in Chico and later Redding, and attended Enterprise High School in Redding, where he was president of the senior class and quarterback of the football team. He graduated from Oregon State University in 1975 and was a lifelong Beavers fan.

After college, he joined the management program at Bank of America, serving as a bank manager in several offices in Northern California for 24 years. In 2001 he began working in Woodland for the Yolo County Department of Social Services.

He is survived by his wife Paula of Davis; son, Luc Martin of San Francisco; son John von Husen and daughter Kristen von Husen and their mother Sheri Guiton, all of Redding; his parents, John and Benay von Husen of San Francisco and Margaret and Gene Collett of Shingletown; his in-laws, Richard and Alice Storm of Gridley; his sisters, Kavie von Husen of Novato and Tanis Bauguss and her husband Ron of Red Bluff; his brother, Charlie von Husen and his wife Katie of Vallejo; and numerous nieces and nephews.

"John was a wonderful husband, father and friend who was always ready with a joke for any occasion," his family says. "He will be truly missed."
