The Akaka bill is out of committee. That was the "Ohana" project. go to the OHA.org site and it will give you more information about the bill, the politics, and "Kau Inoa". I have registered, and I am relatively sure that OHA will be the agency which initially represents the Hawaiians as it has for years, until the people who have registered "vote" for the issues which will determine much of the fate of Hawaiians everywhere. Most of us are far less than 50% if you judge by quantum, so this issue has been pretty much dropped and the OHA has softened on it's hard core stances. When thet bill passes OHA or a representative group will have only 90 days to present the registry. My guess is that it will be harder to get on it after that time than now. OHA is determined to register all 480,000 people who call themselves Hawaiian. Right now the number stands at about 63,000. I hope you will join in.
