Hi... I am a Rideout, and during my own research, I came across a little
information that may give you another path to check out regarding Benjamin.

I came across a John w. Rideout, born 1824 in Bowdoinham. Died 1903. Son
of William I. and Rebecca. He worked on Maine State Line Brunswick to Portland,
Me. In 1849, he had the gold fever and went to CAliformina. On his return
to Bowdoinham, married a Maria H. Grover, daughter of Bowdoin Grover of
Bowdoin, Me.

He went west again for a year, then to Haverhill, MA., then to Bowdoinham,
then to Calias, ME.

In 1867, the returned home and bought the William Stinson House, which
he lived in until the fire of 1902.

Mrs. Rose Reed of Organge, NJ.,
Charles A. Rideout of Boston, MA.

I hope this helps. If you know Benjamin's parents, I have some less detailed
notes about other Benjamin Rideouts from that area of Maine.
