I think it has to do with how much your mail server allows you to get.

I am a newbie to this list and am curious as to why I occasionally recieve
only portions of the digests. In this issue, I only recieved messages 1-5.
I have found the same thing occurring on other mailing lists. Is this
common, or am I special?
