Boy Scout stuff from an otherwise misspent youth ...
Actually ... the joint at the top is easy ... lay the uprights down flat,
close & parallel ... use chain in this case, or rope ... double one end back
for several feet, put that loop over an outer beam, twist a couple of times,
put one length around each side of the center upright, twist a couple of
times, go around each side of the 3rd beam, then back around the 3rd, &
center. Let the live end hang down to connect whatever you lift with. let
it be a little looser than you might expect. In lifting the tripod, pull
the center piece out straight, & spread the base ends of #'s 1 & 3 so the
top ends come around & pinch the top of #2. That'll make the top tight &
strong. I've done this to lift a large V8 engine & lesser stuff.
