Subject: [CEMETERY-L] New Cemetery Listing
Date: Fri, 16 Apr 1999 23:43:53 EDT
Hello List,
I would like to announce a new cemetery transcription posting and brag a
little, OK - a lot <G> at the same time.
My Son, Barry, has just completed the requirements to become an Eagle
Scout. His project was to clean and transcribe a small cemetery in the
old part of Town. This cemetery is called the "Confederate Cemetery" It
contains a few markers, a monument to the War of 1812 and a monument to
the confederate soldiers of Mt. Pleasant. After he cleaned and
transcribed, he published a small booklet of the information that will be
distributed to the state and local historical societies. He also has
posted the information with the Tombstone Transcription Project and the
pictures on a website that he developed himself: even the gravesites on
the map are "hot".
This cemetery contains the graves of Mt. Pleasant residents who were born
in Delaware, North Carolina, Road Iland (Rhode Island), and Maryland.
We still have not figured out where the "N.P." of "Road Iland, N.P." is.
Barry has written to the person in RI suggested by another list member,
but no response yet.
Stop by and give it a look - who knows, there may even be a long lost
ancestor there.

Barry is my second son. His older brother earned his Eagle Badge last
June by cleaning a long abandoned cemetery site.
Thanks Norma.

time . . . to the past
