Sue is right. This is not a problem that is specific to one area of the
country, or for than matter one nation. It's a problem that is not specific
to one race, or class or group of people. And sadly, it's a problem that
has been going on for as long as there have been cemeteries, and will likely
go on until we run out of time.

This is really without any doubt history here that we are discussing the
loss of. The history of our community, our county, our state. Our nation.
And we watch as CVS puts a new location over the top of that history so
someone can drive three blocks less to get to a drug store. How sad. And we
watch as they put the new highway over the top of them. How sad. What can we
do about it. let your elected officials know that unless they work to
prevent this from taking place by enacting strong laws that will be enforced
they loose your vote. Let them know that you care and if they want to keep
that job they need to start caring also.

Bring to their attention what other states are doing. Shame them into
acting.

Nan,

The saddest part of all is that this is happening all over the country. You
would think that if we got enough hue and cry going over it, the individual
states would realize what a black eye these types of "sensitive" matters
give them.

To even begin to correct much of what is going on, we will all need to
become part of the "active citizenry" President Bush spoke about in his
inauguration speech. Active citizentry means becoming active in the things
you believe in. It also means being an activist has been encouraged by the
top man in this country.

Almost everyone has someone buried somewhere in these United States. My
family is all over - from the northeastern states, in New York,
Pennsylvania, Illinois, Kentucky, Kansas, California, Arizona, Montana and
Washington.

We all have a vested interest in the historic grave yards of our nation for
in them is held the very essence of our heritage...our ancestors.

Speak out...
