Good for you!
A year or so ago, Kentucky passed a law allowing for county Cemetery Preservation Boards. This gives them a little recognition (authority?), and also allows them to sponsor a cemetery that wants/needs to apply for a little bit of funding by the Historical Society ($500 max.).
Ask the webmaster of any genealogical or historical site for your county if they would put your existence on their website. Also, write a Letter to the Editor in your county to your local newspapers. I know of one county that uses the scouts to help them clean up cemeteries. Also the Fire Dept. helps to haul away the undergrowth pulled up.

Hello,
I am thinking of starting a group in my home county to begin the process
of restoring and preserving the local cemeteries. I would just like to
learn more about all of this before I jump in head first.
