Yes, if you re-import you will lose the changes you already made. Normally
you should have gotten an error every time the program started telling you
the TX did not install. But from things people are saying I get the
impression that they don't always get this error. The program tries to
"register" the TX OCX itself. It makes me wonder if perhaps the TX is
registered from an earlier beta version which was likely in a different
directory than the current beta and that it got deleted - this would make
the system "think" the OCX were registered when it no longer exists in the
expected location.

But try the following to get it registered:

START -> Run -> c:\cftw3\regsvr3 c:\cftw3\tx4ole.ocx

You should get a successful message. Then you should be able to edit notes.

Now for your particular problem. There are two ways to solve it - depending
on which will be the easiest. You could 1. reimport from Ver 2 and then
have to add everything back that you have added since the import OR 2. You
could copy and paste from Ver 2 each note one at a time by having both Ver
2 and Ver 3 open at the same time and Alt-Tab between them. Hilight text in
Ver 2, press Ctrl-C to copy, Alt-Tab to Ver 3, Ctrl-V to paste and then
repeating for every note. This method would save you from re-entering data,
and might be better if you do not have that many notes.
