Hi Erik,
I had the same experience some months ago and used the same method to start
all over and do it right. This matter is very dangerous and warnings should
be placed on Ira's webpage to save people from losing their data integrety!
From my experience one has to be very careful when working in 'non-standard'
(other than US English) mode!
Do always keep your back-ups in a safe place (have you ever tried to recover
from your back-ups. You would be surprised, the media could easily fail over
time)
Regards,

This error is due to a bug in the import routine in CFT3.
The error occurs in all imports, from CFT2 as well as from
GEDCOM. It is not specifically related to CFT2.
The error only appears on a non-English setup. It is a random
error, it occurs often, but not always.
I have found that the error can be avoided by using the following
procedure:
1. Change all language settings in CFT3 to English. Close the
program.
2. Change the Windows Language setting to English.
3. Reboot the PC.
4. Run CFT3 and make your import, it will now be OK.
5. Change CFT3 and Windows back to your own language.
6. Reboot the PC.
If you didn't follow this procedure at your earlier imports to
CFT3, there is a considerable risk that your CFT3 database is
corrupted.
I therefore advise all non-English users to carefully check the
dates in their CFT3 database(s) to see if they are all correct.
