Hi Walter
Are you sure that sometimes CFTW is the only program running when you have a
crash? Hit Ctrl/Alt/Del and see what else is running in the background.
There may be a rogue program there. When was the last time you defragmented
your hard drive? How big is your swap file? How full is your hard drive?
Have you tried re-installing Win 95 or CFTW?
I never used CFTW v2.xx. I went straight from v1.xx to v3.01 ( I actually
ran the beta versions for some time ). I have never had a crash with v3.xx
but I used to get them with v1.xx when I tried to run a long report.
I do regular maintenance on my system using Norton System Works 2000 and
very rarely have any trouble and never with CFTW which is often running in
the background all day. Microsoft Office sometimes gives me problems
especially if I have a number of applications and big files open. I have Win
98 2nd edition.
I suggest you upgrade to CFTW v3.05, it won't cost you anything for 45 days.
Save a copy of your v 2.50 database files in case you want to go back.
If you still have a problem I think you should upgrade your Win 95 to Win 98
2nd Edition or Win ME. I still have an old system running Win 95 and it
always gave me no end of trouble and still does. The only good thing that
can be said about Win 95 is that it is better than Win 3.1.
