Greetings all,
I am researching the name DRUMMOND on Jersey and my particular aim at the
moment is to find any information (particularly parentage and siblings) of
my 4th Great Grandfather David Thomas Drummond born about 1797 at
Grouville. He married Rachel RICHARDSON about 1820/23 possibly at Grouville
or St. Martins where their children John (Jean) and Rachel were baptised.
Rachel Snr died at some point and David married again and started a new
family, whom I have found on the 1851 Census.
From what little records appear on the IGI, I see the name Richardson seems
to have been on the Island for some time.
I noted on the Channel Islands FAQs mention of an indexing project. How
available is this information. Are any of the church records public without
having to incur the considerable expense of researchers?
Can anyone tell what the quality is of the 1841 census film?. I did look at
St. Martin early in my research some years ago and have have extracted
only one name. I thought of doing it again, but wonder if the lack of much
information was that the quality was poor.
Any help greatly appreciated
Sharron
