My grandfather EDWARD HERBERT GALLIE was the produce of a union between
EDWARD HERBERT GALLIE and his second wife MARY RUTH LEDWICH. He was born
at 32 Union Street, St Helier on the 18th May 1890, the second child of
five.

EDWARD's (the elder) first wife JANE LE BRETON had died in 1886, very
suddenly from natural causes. in 1881 they lived at Terradale Cottage, St
Helier. He was a house carpenter, she a dressmaker.

EDWARD & MARY RUTH were married on the 24th August 1887, in St Saviour, she
was also from St Helier.

My problem is this....

MARY RUTH already had a child, GEORGE LEDWICH born on the 14th May 1883.
On his Birth Cert: the father is not named. He was brought up as one of
the GALLIE's. We have a photo of a family reunion in 1946 in St Helier.
It is known that he attended this, but no photo was taken of him.

Because this happened after 1881, I am rather stuck. Can anyone help.
