Hi List.

Firstly. I suffer from an AOL defect in that out of every five Digests, I
only get the full subject matter for three. The other two I only get the
contents element, without the actual article. I mention this in case I am
repeating items.
First. doves/Pigeons.
In theory, it was to prevent so many pigeons being kept as to decimate the
tenants crops. I suspect it was the reverse. By being the only one to keep
pigeons, they would fatten themselves up at the expense of Tenants so as to
arrive at the Seigneurial table fat and plump.
Secondly, to those of us privileged to be British, a useful source might be
the Newspaper Library at Colindale Hendon North London. Free to use, you can
spend hours going through such esoteric newspapers as the Guernsey Moon, ,
The Guernsey Advertiser and Weekly chronicle etc. Earliest paper around 1839
( 1 only,edition of The Guernsey Record)
You need endless time to read through, but I am convinced it must be a
fruitful source of info.

Purely at random, cos my interest is elsewhere, I noted that on 22/3/1913
The Guernsey Advertiser and Weekly Chronicle reported 100 persons deaprting
for Canada, including Miss E Waterman Mr& Mrs. W C Solway, J Hibbs, W Parson,
E Lihou, Alfred le Maitre, Miss E Le Maitre, Mr. Alfred Corbet, J H Falla,
John Meager, Mr. W le Reverend, Mr & Mrs Savident, TH Mauger John and Thomas
Mahy.

Hope this might be of some use

Also a death Capt Le Cocq RN died on 6/4/1913 born 14/4/1833 Aged 71.
Two marriages in London
9/4/1913 Le Couteur-Campbell
10/04/13 Smyth-Osborn to Gosselin
Also in 1913. (SPP 15/4 Born to Harold Miller Cluett, a son Roy Falla (Wot no
mudder !!!)26/3/1913 Richard Haney (SPP )
Death 16/4/1913 KJohn Allez le Sauvage aged 74

there are loads more, I merely noted this bunch with my right hand whilst my
left hand was engaged on my real mission.

Reports in these papers figured Canada prominently so one assumes a strong
Canadian connection through the years.
