Loretta's query re her Gallies who made their way to Gaspe reminds
me.... there may be a number of newcomers on the list & it might be
worth reposting info on a web site I put up some time ago....
If your ancestors ventured to the Gaspe coast at all , for a generation
or two or seven, The Gaspe Genealogy Register is where you should
go.Lots of migration from Channel Islands to here in 1700>1800's, &
large migration from the coast to the U.S.A.,as well as other parts of
Canada, in the 1800 >1900's. We have a saying on the coast...our best
'export' has always been people! (after cod,of course!!) Haven't got a
map ? not to worry; the one there will be some help ( a
better one is in the works) . Still not sure? ask the site owner..me. If
you've a 'Gaspe' 'connection' you'll find important links as well, at :
http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Fields/7220/index.html
You'll see it's a pretty simple site with just one goal......to be a
'connecting' point for anyone /everyone working on Gaspe lines. If
that's you or if you just want to find some 'cousins' you might want to
check it out, browse awhile....& of course if you are lucky enough to
have Gaspe lines (me, biased??? you bet!!) be sure to register.
Good Rootin', all.
Martha
