Subject: Barracks In Jersey
Date: Sat, 7 Oct 2000 14:16:55 +1300

Hi all,
I am trying to locate a regiment that went to Jersey in 1839.
The regiment was the 46th regiment. They were in Jersey from 1839 to 1841.
Could any one tell me where they would have stayed, Grouville has been
mentioned.
Was there a barracks at Grouville where English regiments stayed?
They would have been there at the time of the 1841 census. I hope to order
the 1841 census next Tuesday.
Would like to know what parts of Jersey regiments would have stayed between
1839-41 to help save time looking through the entire film.
Can any one tell me why an English regiment would have been in Jersey at
this time
Would appreciate any help.
Kind regards
