I am interested in some ancestors who went to Alderney, had children and
immigrated to Australia
Charles James FOLLETT- married Sarah GUDGE 22/Aug/1848
Both born in South Petherton Somerst and had been baptized and married in
the parish church
Children born in Alderney:- Charles James Jnr FOLLETT born 1849
died N.Z.
" " " Mary Ann FOLLET born
1851
died 1851
" " " Mary Ann FOLLETT
born 1853
died N.Z.
They arrived in Sydney Australia 10th May 1855 , Neither could read or
write , Religion C. of E. agricultural labourer
at sometime after 1857 they went to New Zealand.
QUESTIONS:-
What would they have been working at ? (must find a good
history book)
What was the name of the church in Alderney, at that time?
When did the Channel Islands use the English B.D.M.
registration?
Was the 1851 census taken in Alderney?
Hope I can have all those questions.
Thanks in anticipation Juanita (Sydney)
