No...Ancestry is not the same as PAF, and in my opinion is very dangerous.
I have an Edward Frank NORSTER on my tree and by searching Ancestry.com
through their website, have found 2 or 3 instances. Using the Ancestry
program, it automatically searches their databases, and tells me that he
appears in 6 family trees and 8 databases, then proceeds to try and charge
me to look at them.
Why does their normal search not show these entries. It supposedly lists all
the databases it searches, pay or otherwise.
If I paid to look at the databases, I could immediately download the
information and add it to my tree.
As I have said, I think that sort of practice is very dangerous.

Hi Graham,
I am using Family tree detective-now discontinued. The updated version is
Family tree maker at genealogy.com, that everybody seems to rave about.
The thing I like about these programs is that you can display siblings on
trees.
I have got the free PAF and the free ancestry.com programs too. I thought I
would trial them. PAF is the same as the ancestry one.
Cheers,
Jayne
