Hi Gang, Im new to the list. I've been doing
genealogy for quite some time but I hit a road block
when I discovered that my ancestor's death record
showed place of birth as Jersey Island. The Channel
Islands are so new to me that it was the first time I
heard of them. I have been told that the Islands took
census' about every ten years. Im hoping someone more
familiar with the islands can help me out. My
ancestor was Charles Henry Bartlett and he was born
circa 1852. Im trying to find out who his parents
were, I suspect it was Henry and Jane Bartlett but I
have nothing to confirm that theory. I know Charles
H. married before 1876 in Lindsay, Ontario, Canada so
he apparently emigrated before then from Jersey Island
to Canada. Does anyone have access to any census
recordss from around 1852-1875 time frame? Is the
last name Bartlett familiar to anyone? I was told
there were a lot of Bartlett's from the Islands that
settled in Quebec along with passenger lists, does
anyone know of these? Any help would be greatly
appreciated!
P.S. I am in Washington State and I work at the local
LDS Family History Center so if anyone needs any
research in this area, I would be glad to help.
Many Thanks,
Misty
