William is the same as Guillaume - it was true with the 'conqueror' and I guess it must be true with 'Ancestry' - Stephen Robin

I expect everyone who has used this has noticed that, apart from going for
the world record on transcription errors, Ancestry have the habit of
converting CI Christian names to their English equivalents. I can cope with
Peter for Pierre and Maria for Marie, but can anyone tell me if William is
the equivalent of Guillaume? We must be thankful that they don't apply the
same principle to surnames, otherwise my TARDIFs would be late and my
BLAMPIEDs would all have white feet?
Best wishes,
