Hello everyone, here I am again asking for assistance.

g/grandfather John Thomas Gardiner: Master Mariner

I contacted the Maritime Archives National Museums Liverpool and they
gave me the following information:

John Thomas Gardiner born Jersey 1832 - passed his Master ticket in 1886
#C17470. Captained the ship Balmoral owned by MacVicar Marshall & Co.

I was also given some information by one of the lister's about a John T
Gardiner who was Master of the Falkland in 1891 which was also owned by
MacVicars Marshall & Co. and another ship The Bark Mozuffer which a John
T Gardiner was Master of in 1879.

As you can see the information is conflicting, even more so,
when, on the 1891 census (England & Wales)he was only 38 making his year
of birth approximately 1853. I know the John T Gardiner on this census
is my g/grandfather as my grandfather is listed with him, and my
grandfather's birth certificate confirms his name and occupation.

I have been trying to put all this together and failing badly, as the
information does not come together.

Can someone please assist me in finding out the information on his
Master's Ticket from the register as I am having difficulty accessing
the info. I really am not good navigating (pardon the pun) around these
websites.
