Hi Lorna,

Thank you so much for that bit of gold dust. I didn't know the LDS had done
that for Guernsey, much less that the death records include maiden names!
Believe it or not, I was intending to make a visit to one in the next couple
of weeks....I'll get there alot sooner now!

Hi,

The civil registration death records for Guernsey which started in 1838,
contain both maiden names of wives plus parents of the the deceased person
including mothers maiden name. They can be quite a treasure trove of
information. The LDS have microfilmed them and they can be ordered for a
small fee at your nearest LDS Family History Centre. Check out the website
www.familysearch.org for the nearest centre to you.

As the death information is being given either by a surviving spouse or
child sometimes the info is not correct but in most cases it is,
