I'll have to try to get hold of James & Rachel's marriage registration
details. I believe it is listed on the St Sampson Church register as 13th
Aug. 1950. I have come to a dead end with the information I can get from
both their Australian death registrations.

I also had a similar issue with regard to my Jersey people. Immigrated from
England, place unknown.
I eventually found the place via a sibings second marriage entry (first
brothers wedding did not list place he came from, 1851 census said Bristol,
but searches found nothing,second brothers first marriage listed Weybridge,
but searches turned up nothing, second brothers 2nd marriage listed
Sherborne, Dorset. Bingo!!
Although it can be expensive or time consuming, (mine was a 6 step process),

it was worth it to finally find the family in England. (unfortunately, mine
were very mobile, so the search is on again!!)

My point is that collateral lines can very often be the key to solving
mysteries like place of origin for immigrants.
