Greetings Alan,
Samuel W. Queripel b Jul 7, 1769 Forest, Guernsey is my 4X Great Grandfather.
Do you know if Samuel and Marthe had any children together? Seems unlikely with Marthe about 50-51 yrs. when they married in 1815.
I wasn't aware of Marthe's Arnold's earlier marriage, or her children? Samuel already had 8 children when his 1st wife Rachel Vidamour b 1771 died in 1813 Forest
You are correct that 1920 would be Samuel Priaulx Queripel b 1798.
This family group had traveled back and forth to Guernsey quite a bit. They were very successful in NYC. Are in Trade Directories, Financial Section of Newspaper, Bank Records, Owning Real Estate, They had Coal Companies, owned American Honduras Mahogany Co. My direct line is **Henry Queripel b 17 Feb 1803 m Anne Longdon b 1810-11 ENG. Their son,*** Henry Jean Queripel b 1834 NY. He married Adaline Veldran b 1834 NJ. She was the daughter of James S. Veldran also a Gentleman Merchant, who owned three Schooners I know of so far, real estate in NJ. They got around. Henry J. Queripel Jr. homesteaded a farm in Hills Prairie, Bad Ax, Wisconsin, then went back to NYC. Charles Queripel was on a Passport going to California for business. The men all had children. It will take awhile to figure-out who Jean,( John) aged 9 is, with them on CI 1841 Census.( Samuel W. Queripel's father was Jean Jr. Queripel b 1737 m to Marguerite Le Lacheur, his father Jean Sr. m to Thomasse Priaulx)
Thanks for your reply,
Arlene

RE:
Hello Arlene. Samuel's 2nd wife Marthe was my 6G Aunt and I'm also
interested in your query. My notes, taken from the 1820 United States
Federal Census have a Samuel Queripl (sic)?in New York City and I've
annotated them with the question to myself (as you do :) "if he was in NYC
in 1820, who are the Samuel, 70 & Martha, 75 with John, 9 (grandson??) in
Belle Vue, The Forest, Guernsey in 1841 census?"
One answer of course is that the Samuel in NYC in 1920 is Samuel Priaulx
Queripel, Sam Snr's son to Rachel. If that's so, do you know who the young
John at Belle Vue may be??
Hoping someone can shed some light on this piece of the puzzle.
Alan Arnold (in Canberra, Australia)
