Hi Listers. After three more years of just listening to you all I have
decided to take the plunge again and seek some help. My great
great-grandmother was Marguerite ROMERIL born on Jersey about 1815. Her
father's name was Elias/Elie ROMERIL. Those are the facts. With previous
help from fellow listers and new research I have done I have found two E.
Romerils in about 1849. One in Trinity was called Elie Romeril and born
about 1766/75 with a son of the same name born about 1800, both in Trinity.
The father is probably too old and the son is probably too young to be the
man I am looking for. The other E. Romeril was in St. Saviour and I need
help to find him. Can anyone do a look-up in the 1841 and 1851 St. Saviour
Censuses for this E. Romeril? The other facts I have came from General Don's
muster - there were nine E. ROMERILs at that time, seven were named Ed/uard
and two Elie. One Elie was in Trinity and almost certainly the first man I
mentioned above, and one !
in St. Helier aged 40. This last character is most interesting and I
would love to know more. If anyone has any thoughts or facts about him I
would be great to hear them. Kind Regards, Colin Bendall.
