As the listowner, I suppose I should be the first to introduce myself to
the list and share my Cheshire research interests.
My name is Helen Parsonage, and I'm an ex-pat Brit (Londoner, to be
precise) living in North Carolina, USA. My husband (who's a Brummie born
and bred) came here for work, and all three of our children were born here.
I have been doing family history research for quite some time now after I
got interested in doing a one-name-study on the Parsonage name. Then it got
addictive!
Several of my familiy branches led back to Cheshire:
LONGSHAW - High Legh and Rostherne.
HOBSON - Altrincham
HAMILTON - Altrincham
MOTTRAM - Prestbury/Wilmslow/Alderley
Despite living the first 26 years of my life in England - I'm sorry to say
I never visited Cheshire! Needless to say I'd give my right arm for a
trip there now. My 3Xgreat-grandfather Peter MOTTRAM (and probably his
father too) was the miller at Alderley, and the mill is now a beautifully
restored National Trust property. My parents went to visit it last month
and sent some lovely photos.
Anyway, this is already too long : - )
Someone else's turn now,
Helen
