Hi list
I have found today a framed certificate that is in my fathers possession
that we think refers to his g g grandfather.

"To the Grand Master, the Board of Directors, and the order in general.
This is to certify, that our beloved brother JOHN Lewis was admitted a
member of the loyal RISING SUN lodge No.291 in the MOTTRAM district of
Manchester Unity of the independent order of Odd Fellows on the Thirtieth
day of August in the year of our Lord One Thousand Eight Hundred and Twenty
Eight.

Signed by Michael Bentley N.G, Andrew Chadwick V.G, John Hobson Sec.

Presented to P.P.G.M JOHN Lewis on his retirement from office by members of
the above lodge as a memorial of their esteem in which he is held as a true
Odd Fellow and for having discharged the duties faithfully and honestly of
the sole trustee to the society for a period of thirty two years.

Dated August 7th 1869."

If anybody is able to shed any information on the lodge or the names
mentioned we would be very interested.
